Almost every course about building a website starts with a chapter you can skip. This one doesn't. Type three things and your site begins.
What you'll be able to do by the end
- Enter your restaurant's name, cuisine, and address into MuntinContext.
- See your inputs render in the live-preview rail to the right.
- Recognize that every later lesson uses these three values as its working example.
Plain language version — the fast read
Type your restaurant's name. Type your cuisine. Type your address. Look right — your site is starting. The whole bootcamp uses these three words from now on. Five minutes.
Look to the right. Your name is already there, on the very first version of your site. That browser-chrome around it isn't a screenshot — it's a tiny working page that re-renders every time you type. Read it once. Then come back.
Everything after this lesson uses your own restaurant — your name, your cuisine, your neighborhood — as the working example. Generic examples aren't allowed on Muntin. We don't show you what some restaurant's site looks like. We show you what yours looks like, one decision at a time. Two more inputs and you're done with this lesson.
Notice the small colored chip that just appeared above your name in the preview. That's a placeholder for your brand color, picked by your cuisine. You'll choose three colors that are actually yours in Lesson 7; for now, you're seeing a reasonable starting point.
Scroll the preview on the right. Your address now appears under Find us.
That's it. You're done with Lesson 1.
You just made the first three decisions of your restaurant website. Everything that follows builds on these. The next lesson is about what a restaurant website is actually for — five minutes, no typing required.
You just shipped v0.1 of your website.
A working preview of your home page with your name, your cuisine, and your address — saved in this browser. It's already a real page. By the last lesson, you'll be downloading the finished version of it.
The whole rest of the bootcamp uses these three values. Every example, every preview, every template — your restaurant, from this point forward.
