When to use it

Pull this sheet out when —

  • Two weeks before a shoot — gives the kitchen time to source garnishes and rehearse plating.
  • On set — paper, on a clipboard, ticked off as each shot lands.
  • After the shoot — the list is what you compare against to confirm everything got captured.
Common mistakes

What operators get wrong

  • No backup dish for the shot that bombs. Plating fails happen; the photographer does not have time to wait.
  • Listing the dish without naming the channel target. A 4:3 menu shot and a 9:16 Reel cover are different shoots.
  • Forgetting the props the photographer asked for. Linens, glassware, a backup garnish — all on the list.
